About the Masterclass

There are a few things certain in life: Taxes is one, and a crisis – no matter how big or small – is yet another uncomfortable inevitability. And like everything in life, how we respond when disaster strikes pretty much charts the way forward.

You only have to listen to the news headlines to know that there are a handful of brands that have managed to escape media scrutiny. And if these organisations have escaped public attention now, it really is only a matter of time before the wheel turns.

From the very real crisis in the South African health sector, to a crippled tax collection service, the inevitable fallout from Listeriosis and the on-air walk-out of a rugby commentator, a crisis contains the highest potential to annihilate a company’s reputation, its brand and its share value.

A reputation is the single most important asset your organisation owns, and when it lies in ruins, it is almost impossible to piece together again. The media can make your brand – but they can just as easily break it.

Should something untoward take place at your business, the media attention will be intense. You will be scrutinized, second-guessed and sliced and diced in a matter of a few broadcast minutes.

The first few seconds of your response are critical to the media’s narrative. Without careful preparation and planning, the results could be nothing short of disastrous.

Being prepared ahead of time to deal with a barrage of reporters can help you and your organisation to get through the crisis relatively unscathed – or at the very least without the additional damage that can be caused by misinformation and speculation.

With so many crises resulting in corporations taking embarrassing hits in the full glare of the public spotlight, Janine Lazarus has developed the ultimate Media Masterclass that will equip delegates with the knowledge needed to face the media during a crisis.

With guest speakers including seasoned MC and radio talk show host, Ashraf Garda, editor, foreign correspondent and former communications executive, Rich Mkhondo, and Strategic Business Communications expert, Daniel Munslow, the ‘Janine Lazarus Media Masterclass 2018’ will unpack important topics ranging from Understanding the Media Mind, to Strategic Crisis Communication, Key Message Development, Keeping Calm Under Fire, a Real-Time Corporate Crisis and How to Deal with its Inevitable Fallout.

Join these industry experts as they aim to galvanize delegates by sharing actionable insights into the media mind, unpack real-life case-studies, as well as provoke conversations that matter.
