Ghana

Janine Lazarus was hosted in Ghana’s capital city of Accra on 25 and 26 August by Accra Brewery and the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA). She was invited to facilitate an intensive two-day programme on Investigative Journalism for 30 veteran journalists from both the print and electronic media. Accra Brewery is the keynote sponsor of the GJA Awards which will be held in September.

Eskom's R27-billion Ingula Power Station

Eskom's R27-billion Ingula Power Station situated on the border between the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal. The pumped-storage scheme project connects two dams by underground waterways, and is made up of 10,5 kilometres of underground tunnels within in the mountain itself.

“Movers and Shakers” - SABC’s Special Assignment

Janine Lazarus was invited to be a panelist in a studio discussion on political branding and campaigning on SABC 3's Special Assignment.

The title of the show: "Movers and Shakers", alludes to the dance moves of President Jacob Zuma and DA leader Helen Zille on the election campaign stages. A short 4-minute insert of an edited story will provide background of the two political figure heads, their styles, their approaches and reaction from supporters.

The studio discussion will then kick off and continue into the second and third segment. Janine will be joining a political analyst and a brand/image specialist on the panel.

Lesotho Journalism Boot Camp

Janine has just returned from an intensive week-long Journalism Boot Camp she facilitated in the mountains of Lesotho for 15 delegates from the Lesotho media.

The programme under the auspices of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) and Idasa, will be complimented with two fieldwork components over June/July in the more remote regions of Lesotho. Janine and community radio veteran, Shepi Mati, will support the trainees in the development of media inserts, news items, interviews for radio, and articles for local newspapers.
